Google just released their comprehensive list of 2014’s top searches. Previously we wrote about Bing and Yahoo’s top lists and it seems Google has many of the similar topics.
The top 10 searched topics include
- Robin Williams
- World Cup
- Ebola
- MH370
- ALS
- Flappy Bird
- Conchita Wurst
- ISIS
- Frozen
- Sochi
Just like Bing and Yahoo people were interested in celebrity deaths, worried about diseases and excited to watch sporting events. Some of the other notable celebrity deaths at the top for that topic were Joan Rivers, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Maya Angelou and Jan Hooks. For celebrity top searches, Jennifer Lawrence and Kim Kardashian stole the spotlight with followers like French actress Julie Gayet, comedian Tracy Morgan and actress Rene Zellweger.
People turn to Google to ask questions they may be too embarrassed to ask family or friends. The top results for search queries starting with “what is…” were Ebola, ALS, ISIS, Bitcoin and asphyxia. For the “how to…” search queries, we wanted to know about sharing files, how to contour with makeup, vote, kiss and craft. Some other questions we asked was how to teleport, where to buy a Pharrell hat and tips on taking selfies.
